Carling Dorr Allen 1918 ~ 2004  He was the man we called "Sweetheart", "Daddy" and "Grandpa".  He was the daddy with the twinkling blue eyes, the gentle smile and the rich tenor voice.  He was the man who told elaborate stories, who danced with the children and grandchildren to Big Band music and...

Not sure what to say?

To the wonderful Allen family. I was only 10 when your family moved into our neighborhood and ward in Orem. Every one of you, both parent and children have been wonderful examples to me during my life. Your examples have helped sculpt my ideas of what a great family should be. I always thought that Brother Allen was a quiet, stablizing influence in the community. When the song by Dan Fogelburg, "Leader of the Band" plays on the radio for some reason I think of Brother Allen. He brought the...

Dear Carma & Family: Have so many wonderful memories of Carling and his family. How hard he worked on the home he built in Circleville, his chairs he invented, most of all the fine music teacher he was at Piute HIgh School. He could bring out the best of the best in the students, the untiring time he spent to make a great music department. How he could tune and fix intruments. I wish I had just taken the time to tell him, how much I appreciated what he did for the students singlely and...

Carma and family,
So sorry to hear of Mr. Allens passing... Remember him well from the Piute High years, and growing up in Circleville....
My thoughts are with you at this sad time....
Sincerely
Creo Simkins Rule

He taught me to play the Baritone--and how proud I was when he selected a musical number for the band which had a solo part for the baritone and I. I have...

Mr. Allen's Family:
When your husband/father/grandfather taught me in school, they were called "Mr." so I always think of him as "Mr. Allen". He was a very nice man and a wonderful music teacher. When I sit in church and watch people lead the singing and they don't have a clue, I think to myself "Obviously they didn't have Mr. Allen to teach them the proper way to lead music." My many years in band were a wonderful experience, and even though I wasn't much of a musician, I gained much...
