Carlo Ferrara Obituary

Carlo R. Ferrara, age 95, passed away peacefully at his home in Harahan on Sunday, September 15, 2024, with his devoted wife of 35 years, Katherine P. Ferrara, by his side. He was the son of the late Russell Ferrara and Mary Saparito Ferrara. Beloved father of Anne Marie Villarrubia and adored "Papa" to Kayla Anne Himel and Ashley Marie Ortiz. Brother of Catherine F. Kraus (late Herb) and the late Adolph Ferrara (Helen). "Unkie" to Chuck Ferrara (Gwen), Herb Kraus (Tricia), Jennifer F. Rudolph (Jeff), Hunter and Hannah Kraus, and Madeline, Charlotte, and Jackson Rudolph. Carlo was known as a legend in the City of Harahan and touched the lives of many. He worked tirelessly to create a better life for his family, building a successful career while never losing sight of what mattered most – being there for those he loved. His legacy will continue through the many lives he influenced as a school bus driver, bowling alley and service station operator, entrepreneur, real estate developer, and Veteran of the United States Air Force. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to his dedicated caregivers for their love and patience in caring for Carlo. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and Funeral Mass at St. Rita Catholic Church, 7100 Jefferson Highway, Harahan, LA, on Friday, September 20, 2024. Visitation will be from 9:30am-12pm with a Mass to follow at noon. Interment to be held privately at a later date at Lake Lawn Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers or Masses, memorial donations may be made to the Harahan Senior Center, 100 Elodie Street, Harahan, LA.

Carlogeo was more of a father than my own. He was always there anytime I needed anything. He gave me a wonderful childhood. Brought me to get my drivers license, gave me away at my wedding. Loved him dearly. I will miss you.
You were a truly special person to my entire family. I would have been very proud to call you daddy. Sorry things did not work out with mom. Rest in peace. See you again one day.
