Carmen Hogan Obituary

HOGAN WINSTON SALEM - Carmen Austin Hogan Sept. 21, 1914 - May 10, 2011 Mrs. Carmen Austin Hogan, 96, of Winston Salem N.C., formerly of Wingate N.C., died Sunday, May 10, 2011 at Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community in Winston Salem N.C. Mrs. Hogan was born September 21, 1914 in Clayton N.C., daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Annice Carmen Gattis Austin, she was also preceded in death by her husband: James Edward "J.E." Hogan, Siblings: Joe, Aubrey, Jack, Ed and Wilbur Austin. Mrs. Hogan was a retired Elementary School Teacher in the North Carolina School System, having taught in Gastonia, High Point, Benton Heights, Wingate and Marshville. Visitation will be 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at Wingate United Methodist Church, Wingate N.C., with Services to Celebrate her life beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary, with Dr. Pete Taylor and Rev. Rhonda Hartweg officiating, interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe. Survivors include one son: James Edward Hogan Jr. and wife Jean of Swansboro N.C., one daughter: Martha Ann H. Isenberg and husband Phillip of Winston Salem N.C., two grandchildren: Lauren H. Gould and husband Jason, Grace Austin Hogan both of Baltimore Md., one sister: Sarah Young Austin of Winston Salem N.C. Memorials may be sent to Wingate United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 396, Wingate N.C. 28174 or to Arbor Acres Resident Assistance Fund, 1240 Arbor Rd., Winston Salem N.C. 27104. McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service of Monroe is serving the family of Mrs. Hogan.
