Carol Slaydon Obituary

Carol Hardy Slaydon

Cary

God called Carol "Mimi" Hardy Slaydon home Thursday morning, March 27, 2014, and the angels rejoiced as they welcomed her to Heaven; she had fought the cancer long enough. Carol was born in Dobson, NC on October 12, 1933 to Ed and Hughia Fulk Hardy. She retired from Belk Department Store. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved her garden, bird watching, and was an avid NC State Wolfpack sports fan.

She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 59 years, John "Frank" Slaydon; children, Mitzi Slaydon Treimann (Ken), Joni Slaydon Penven (Rick), and John Edward Slaydon (Debra); grandchildren, Lauren Larrimore, Andrew Penven, Hannah Fransioli, Michaela Slaydon, Loreli Slaydon, and Cordelia Slaydon; and great grandchildren, Amber Larrimore, Scarlett Penven, and Christine Fransioli.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all her siblings; and her grandson, Cliff Blevins, whose birthdate is the same as the date Carol was welcomed to Heaven.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC 27615.

Praying for Frank and family during this sad time. Carol was a shining light to many of her friends at church. She will be missed, but I know she is at peace and probably still cheering for her beloved NC State team!

Carol was always such a sweet lady of God. A wonderful example to all of us. She will be missed, but I know she is with Jesus and her family. I am so sorry that I will not be in town for the services.

My heart is sad for my dear friend & sister in Christ who is with our Lord. She has been in my life since we had little ones. She & Frank were mentors as God's example of what we all should strive to be. I am thankful to have known you all & are a part of who I am today. I pray for peace & comfort to get you thru without Carol. May our Lord fill this void with His peace.
