Carter LOVE Obituary
Carter was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., on April 16, 1941. He was the Associate Pastor at Second Community Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1961-1964. He retired from the Newport News Police Dept. in 1990, having served 26 years. Carter served as Chaplain for the Newport News Retired Police Officers Assoc. and the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. He was a member of the Hampton Chapter of Industrial Commercial Ministries.
Carter was preceded in death by his father, Carter H. Love Sr., and infant son, Carter F. Love.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Nettles Love; his mother, Blanche Louise Love, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; four children, Julie Love Wright, Donna Love Sealey (Richard), John H. Love (Stephanie), April Love Bittle (DeAgo); 11 grandchildren, Ralph (Sarah), Savannah (Hank), Samantha, Madeline, CJ, Miranda, Michael, Megan, Brandon, Hannah and Kenny; one great-grandson, Hank IV; two brothers, Don Love and Jerry Love; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
Carter loved his family and his Lord. Serving the Lord was his greatest joy. He loved to ride his Harley motorcycle and God called him home on his last ride. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Newmarket Baptist Church by Pastor Cliff Jordan with interment in Peninsula Memorial Park with police honors.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Second Community Baptist Church, Peninsula Rescue Mission or Make-A-Wish Foundation.

I too was shocked when my daughter told me of Carters passing..HE WAS SO needed here on this earth to be with those that needed his advice and strenth and belief in GOD..Im sure he is now helping us out in other ways and time. we were neighbors in the early 70s and I worked with him at the Newport News police dept when I was a school guard in 1975 I have great memories of all the men who served and procted us in 70s..80s.. and even after they retired. MY prayers are sent to his family and friends..what a great gift he was to them.H e sat with me when my daughter went thru some tests at Riverside hospital and just having him there to talk to or just sit with made me more at ease..Mary.Diane and I are here for you if you need us...take care

Mary,Julie and family, I am so sorry to hear about Carter's passing. I have such wonderful memories of him back to when Julie and I were in 2nd grade and the pajama party's we had.Later on I would see him in the ER when he was working.He always remembered who I was. He was such a nice loving person and loved his family and his Lord. I pray that the Lord wraps his arms around you through this difficult time.

Oh Mary, If you only knew how much I adored and loved your whole family. I do not ever remember seeing you without a smile on your face or laughing at something Edna said. You are still just as warm and gracious as ever. To see you handle Carter's passing with "at least he died doing what he loved" makes my heart feel good and gives me the assurance that feeling joy instead of sorrow and peace instead of pain when my Grandma died was a normal and healthy feeling. I am reading what has been written and it is like being back with the people we grew up with. I remember Gilmer from Harpersville Baptist. Carter was as good as they come and so are you. Being at your house gave me some normalcy and I could see and feel the love. I could pattern my own life and marriage after you guys. I have been thinking about you often since last Saturday and it seems as usual you are comforting others. I will never forget your love and kindness or that of "Uncle" Carter.

Mary and Family, We were so sory to hear about Carter! You guys were some of our first friends when we came to Va. in 63. Carter worked with me for a while and he was a Great Person to work with! was very shocked hearing the tragic news of Carter Loves passing.i lived on cornwall terrace about 40 years ago and was friends with his son John.i remember Mr.Love taking us kids for a ride up and down the street on his mortorcycle.amazingly i was at FT.Pickett in Blackstone saturday near where he had his accident.my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Mary and family, Just heard awhile ago of Carters homegoing. Deeply sorry for your loss but know Carter is spending eternity with Christ. What a blessing he was from the short time we shared at Boulevard Baptist in Newport News along with you &your family. To be absent from the body is to be present with Christ! This is what Carter is experiencing and he is with many friends and relatives again. But he also loved Jesus and showed his love for him in many ways. God bless the Love family, may the peace of Jesus comfort you during this time. Mary and our extended family, we are so sad to have to give our Carter back to God, but He must have needed him for a bigger job in His Kingdom. Carter was the brother God gave me to fill the gap left by the 3 brothers I had that died in infancy. I knew that if I or my family ever needed anything, Carter or Ben or Charles Hayes was always there for me. I loved my "brother" as much as if he had been my biological brother. I will miss you so much although we didn't see each other very often I knew you were just a phone call away! Mary you and the rest of the family just lean heavily on Jesus and He will comfort y'all in your hour of need!
