age 87 of Orland Park, Illinois, formerly of Burr Ridge, Illinois and Palos Heights, Illinois passed away on June 15th, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Lael W. Mathis; loving mother of Paul R. (the late Margarite) Mathis, Craig L. (Beth) Mathis and William J. (Colleen) Mathis; devoted grandmother of Rebecca (Anthony) Orig, Chase Mathis, Taylor Mathis, Lael Mathis and Carly Mathis; proud great grandmother of Wade Orig, Valerie Orig and Greta Rose; fond sister James R. Wright; cherished aunt of Jennifer (Charles) Sanville and great aunt of Josephine Sanville. Cremation private. Friends and family will gather for a memorial service for Charlene that will be held Saturday, July 29th, 2023 at 11am at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard, 7800 West McCarthy Road, Palos Heights, Illinois 60463. I met Charlene when I was employed at Glenwood Academy. She was such a kind and generous person. Lael and Charlene attended many annual luncheons and enjoyed talking with the children. She made people feel special. Pat Pretz
