Dr. Charles A. Barraclough

Charlie and I were faculty colleagues for many many years. I always admired his intellect and humor. We worked on very different topics so it was only just before he retired that we finally got around to collaborating. Among the numerous memories I do recall him telling me a funny story at one of his house parties. I was in rapt attention - but had one too many - and while leaning back to laugh I disappeared off the stool into an open closet. Charlie watched me all the way down.... never...

I am fortunate enough to currently occupy the research space that Charlie did so much amazing work in years ago at UMB. It was a privilege to get to know him toward the end of his research career and I will never forget his humor and his straight-talk ways.

Charlie was a world-class scientist and a wonderful human being. He will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues.
