Almost 9 years ago my husband Gordon and I moved to Twin Lakes. Marilyn and Charles were the first people at a neighborhood picnic to wave us over and say hello. The friendliness of the Beckwith family continues with casual encounters in the neighborhood or at the orchard.

I just now learned of Charlie's passing; sorry I did not find out earlier and be able to have some input. He and I were coworkers at Dow, though he was much my senior member. I was the " newbie" product manager for the primary product Charlie sold to key customers in the later years of his career. I had the honor of traveling with him on his last week with Dow Chemical. On his final call on Chemlawn we entered the entered their headquarters campus welcomed by an entrance billboard that read "...

Charlie brought laughter and light wherever he went. What a joy to have known him!

When I worked for the Kent State police Department I would lunch at the orchard and visit with Charlie, my grandmother took me to the original orchard back in the 50s.I would swap Lake Erie Perch for Charlie's apples.
