So sorry to hear the news of Uncle Charlie. I have very fond memories of him. He was always good for a laugh at our family gatherings and always let me take a puff on his cigar. I know how hard it is to lose your last parent but you know he is at peace.

My brother, Jim, told me of the death of Charles Buettner Sr. Our sincere sympathy is extended to family members and friends.

I am reminded of a quote I recently read while working Sundays as a caregiver at Mary’s Haven.

“All that we can know about those who have loved and lost”(Thorton Wilder wrote) is that they would wish us to remember them with a more intensified realization of their reality. What is essential clarifies. The highest tribute to the dead is not grief but gratitude.”

We trust that in the days ahead you will find comfort with the support of family and friends.

I was saddened to learn of his death. He was always part of my family growing up. As we got older, he shared his practical advice with my brother and I. He was financially savy and was well grounded in his faith. My mother passed away unexpectedly at age 61. Charles Sr. (my uncle) gave a great deal of his time in helping my brother Tom and I with execution of her will and other final expenses. He helped us through a very difficult time. I regret that because of distance, we were not able to visit. He will remain in my prayers.
My condolences to Charles, Ray, Ken and Gerard. I know you will miss your father.
