Not sure what to say?

I learned of Dr. Darling while teaching English in Japan. The information he shared generously, the incisive observations, the wit underlying some of his comments, was not lost on me, and I endeavoured to pass on the same love of writing I caught from him to my students and my own children. I truly wish I had lived nearby and become one of many in his incredible community of scholars and learners. May his legacy continue live and thrive.

My Mentor and Friend Marylynn,
I was so saddened by the news of Charles passing. I so much remember his beautifully composed thoughts on Jayden, and especially the elation they brought to you. You are so lucky to have such a treasure of radiant reflections shared by Charles. My thoughts and love to you and your family.
Vicki

Dear Marylynn and all-
Dropping in to let you know that you continue to be in our thoughts.
It is clear from the entries in this guestbook and the comments of fellow Tollandites that Charles was a very special person indeed. What wonderul memories he has gifted to you! He will be with you forever.
With Love,
Ronni, Mark, Scott and Emily Zoback

Mrs. Darling,

I was very sad to hear of your husband's passing. I have very fond memories of the two of you walking around the block in our neighborhood (until a couple of years ago, my kids and I lived at the corner of Anthony Rd/Sherry Circle). It was always nice to see your smiling faces coming around the corner. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To The Darling Family:
I am so sorry about your loss. My name is Antoinette Jenkins and I was one of his student when I was at Greater Hartford Community College in 1990. He was a wonderful english teacher. I remeber when I lost my baby brother on November 17, 1990 he was there for me and my family. He brought me a Thanksgiving Basket that year and it made me feel so much better. If you need to e-mail me back my e-mail address is [email protected] or you can call at...

Dear Marylynn and family,

Bob and I are saddened to learn of your recent loss. May the strength that our Heavenly Father gives us to carry on, be yours at this sad time.

Blessings, Anne and Bob

Dear Mrs. Darling & Family: My sincere condolences to you during this difficult time.

God Bless,

Please know that I have only just discovered Dr. Darling's amazing website. What an apt name! Yet the day I discovered him, I was at the same time notified of his recent passing. His work is fabulous and will remain valuable to countless students and teachers around the world. Dr. Darling's work lives on to serve the public for years to come. I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a wonderful soul, yet I know he'll always be there for you and for me, just in a different form. My heartfelt...

Marylynn, friends in Connecticut mailed Charlie's obituary to me. It arrived today. I am so filled with
sadness for your loss...but know with such joy you were able to share his incredible and wantonly wonderful life with him. His friendship and support when we worked at GHCC remain a benchmark in my career. I bought his book through the bookstore several months ago. When I read "Minnow" I had a sense of foreboding. I only wish I had told him how much I treasure the book, my memories...
