Mister Daytop, as Charlie was affectionately known to those who knew him, lived the classic success story life. He rose from the gutters in the streets of Brooklyn to become Daytop's first inpatient resident back in 1963, and climbed the ranks to Senior Vice President and CEO within the organization before retiring at the top of his game after 48 years.
