Chuck Hagen demonstrated his creative problem-solving to me the first day I met him in his office at St. Paul Public Schools. He hired me to bring what we now call 'augmentative communication devices' into the district. He was keenly aware of a population of children with significant handicapping conditions who had never been enrolled in public schools, who now needed to be included. Chuck Hagen was a friend to many. He was a strong voice in serving the many needs of the Special-Ed students in the St. Paul schools and for many years.

He articulately and righteously defended his programs that helped the growing needs of our students.

Chuck was a friend to all he met, and a fine colleague to share a cup of coffee on the 5th floor at 360 Colborne.

Condolences to the Hagen family. Chuck left a wonderful legacy to many.
