Charles Janke Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Wayne Janke
1944-2021
CHARLES "CHUCK"
WAYNE JANKE
On December 11, 2021, Charles "Chuck" Wayne Janke passed on after a battle with cancer to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus. Chuck was born on September 5, 1944 in Weeksville, North Carolina to third-generation Texans. His family is a proud part of the early German immigrants who settled throughout the state and his paternal grandfather was a survivor of the Great Galveston hurricane, known as the 1900 Storm. While his grandmother affectionately called him "Jockie", we knew this sweet-spirited man, husband, father, grandfather and brother as Chuck.
Chuck attended Mirabeau B. Lamar High School. After high school, he attended University of Mexico and graduated from Texas Tech University where his studies were focused in Business. Early in his career, he was Executive Vice President and Sales Manager of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery. Throughout his life Chuck was involved in many successful undertakings and he enjoyed his career as a commercial real estate broker; He was Chairman of the Board at Rampart Capital Corp. However, his true passion was in his ministries where he served in other countries and closer to home was involved with the Pregnancy Help Center of Houston. He was proud to have donated hundreds of bibles to young women. He was Chairman of the Board of Lifeway International. He traveled the world to minister to people in need and donated his time to Texas Children's Hospital where he served as a Chaplain. Chuck was an active member at Second Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years.
Chuck enjoyed his role and many years of work as a committee member with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He was always the traveler and explorer, the further off the beaten path the better the adventure. An avid hunter and fisherman, he particularly loved the excitement of deep-sea fishing and the thrill of big game hunting.
Chuck was a giving man who never had an unkind word for anyone. As a humble man he firmly believed "everything belongs to God." Chuck looked after all his loved ones and cared for them in many ways. He will be remembered as an awesome storyteller that sparked wonderful interest in children and awakened the kid in all of us with his inspiring stories.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Viola Janke and Alfred Janke. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kyra Lynn Janke; his daughter, Hollie Landrith and her husband Matthew Landrith; his son, Charles "Chuck" Wayne Janke II and his wife Heather Haliburton Janke, and son Shawn Chippendale; grandchildren, Elizabeth Landrith, Jacqueline Landrith, Hannah Haliburton and Charles W. "Tripp" Janke III. He is also survived by his brother, James "Jim" Janke and his wife Jeanie Janke; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to his "angel team" of caregivers and his hospice team. You assured him of love and comfort, and we are forever grateful.
A private burial service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery.
A memorial service to celebrate a life well lived by Chuck will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 26th of January, 2022 in the Sanctuary at Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway, Houston, Texas 77057 with Dr. Edwin H. Young officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway, Houston, Texas 77057 or the charity of your choice.

This reading was a comfort to my family when we lost a loved one to cancer.
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you
and whispered "Come to Me."
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
