I joined the then Air Force Cambridge Research Labs in 1974 as a 2nd Lieutenant fresh out of graduate school. I was assigned to be Charlie´s deputy on the newly organized Spacecraft Charging at High Altitudes (SCATHA) satellite program. Given the great success of our collaboration on SCATHA I can truly say my professional career began with Charlie. He taught me how to organize conferences, how to get funding, and how to write books. Together we co-authored the first book on the space...

My deepest condolences. I was most fortunate to have Charlie as my boss and friend since 1981. He was an admirable, gentle, and exceptionally brilliant guy always.

Charlie was my first boss of my first job after my academic formation. His kindness and sharing of knowledge set the standard for the rest of my career. My condolences to his family, who came first in all his personal sharings.

WE CALLED CHARLIE "TOWN AND COUNTRY" BECAUSE HIS VOICE WAS CHANGING AND YOU NEVER KNEW IF YOU WOULD GET HIGH OR LOW SOUNDS! GREAT GUY AND OLD FRIEND! SORRY JOE AND CONNIE!
