His engineering career included working on the nation's missile and torpedo systems while employed at Consolidated Controls. He also was an expert sign painter, carpenter and auto body and mechanic who could build a house or a car from the ground up. He enjoyed landscaping and hosting pool parties and barbecues at his Beaver Brook Road homestead.

He also leaves ten grandchildren: Holly Colon, Kara Mia Colon, Cody Gillotti, Elijah Sigmon, Joshua Sigmon, Abby Sigmon, Ivy Sailer, Christopher Sailer, Amber Okenquist and Jonathan Tomlinson; plenty of precious great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his partner of 17 years, Margaret (Peg) Gregoire of Port Richey, FL, and former wives Joan Wixon of Danbury, and Marilyn Melillo of Waterbury.
Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by his son, Charles T. Sailer Jr.; three sisters, Harriet Dingee, Dorothy Mead and Marion Hottes; a brother, William Tucker; his stepfather, George Gardner; and stepsister, Shirley Northrop Tucker.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT directly followed by a burial at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at Wooster Cemetery Veterans Section, Danbury with full military honors.

The loss of someone so dear brings so much pain, yet the comfort of knowing
he is at peace brings comfort to the heart. Psalms 94:19

My sincerest condolences to my life time family Holly Sailer, her beautiful children and their precious children, Joanie Montessori whom all I adore so dearly. And their partners in love and life. Life has a way of taking our hearts and testing our faith. It is through our faith that we find comfort in knowing that God has a plan for each of his faithful servants... and so, we trust that we will be separated but we will gather together again as he has promised. May you Charles rest in eternity with our loved ones and give us all some sign that you are not gone but that your heavenly spirit lives on. My love to the entire family.

Please know that you and your family are in our prayers. Loosing a loved one is hard. Remember your father fondly, cherish the time you had together and know that his suffering is past. As you and yours carry on so will his legacy.

Our sincere condolences

RIP Uncle Bud. I told you "the good Lord doesn't want you yet and we do." He finally called your name and now you're reunited with your brother and sisters. Your pain is gone but the memories and laughter live on. Love you.
