We did not know Chappy personally, but we have been searching for him for many years. In 2004, kayaking along the shore after a storm, we found a decoy on the western bank of the Northeast River, about a mile south of the town of North East, MD. Of the many people I recall from high school, few stand out with such warmth, kindness, and genuine love of people as Chappy. Always smiling, always with a friendly wave or nod, he made people feel special and that they mattered. We could all take a lesson from Chappy and remember to be kind, to take time for others and to live life with gusto and joy. May the Saxton family feel the love and prayers of everyone and may Chappy rest in glory and peace.
