Mr. Scurlock was my choir teacher. He was all was calm and cool.

Mr. Charles played sax in a band with my dad, Jack Lawson, in the 1980s. As a child, my memories of him are fixed: a man possessed with so much talent, elegance and cool-quiet charisma who was impossible not to notice or appreciate, even for an unstudied boy like me. He was a master musician, and someone who inspired me to play music for myself. The world is richer for the notes he played. Sending love on behalf of my family to his. We are grateful to have known Charles Skurlock. XO
