Mr. Scurlock was my choir teacher. He was all was calm and cool.

Mr. Charles played sax in a band with my dad, Jack Lawson, in the 1980s. As a child, my memories of him are fixed: a man possessed with so much talent, elegance and cool-quiet charisma who was impossible not to notice or appreciate, even for an unstudied boy like me. He was a master musician, and someone who inspired me to play music for myself. The world is richer for the notes he played. Sending love on behalf of my family to his.
