Was saddened to see this news in the AAPG publication. I met Chuck in the early 80's and he took part of an drilling deal from me, which was productive. He was an amazing man of whom I wax thoughtfully of as I grow older, and follow his steps as an oilman. There is no equal to Mr Wheeler, he will be missed ..God bless you all. Kate, I read your books while borrowed down in a frozen world at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery in January 2010. I was taken by many aspects of your writing and quite curious about your living in different place while growing up. Wishing you and yours peace and loving kindness. Thanks for being the kind and loving person that you are. I always enjoy speaking with you when I see you. In appreciation, Lisa

Dear children and family members. We met Chuck and Jan when they transferred to Bogota from Venezuela in 1959. We all became lifelong friends. Chuck was a friend to admire and respect and with whom one could share life at its fullest. We shall always have him with us.
