ZIMMERMAN, Charles Melvin
'Buzz'
Age 91, passed away June 16, 2011 in Sacramento, California. He was born October 7, 1919 in Mariposa, California to Charles and Dolly Zimmerman. Buzz was a WWII Army veteran serving in the Pacific theater. After the war, he moved to Sacramento where he worked as a civil service lineman at McClellan Air Force Base for 22 years. He then owned and operated his own carpet company until retirement. Buzz is survived by his son Charles E. Zimmerman and his wife Diane, his grandchildren Charles W. and his wife Veena, Vernon, Tamy, Christy and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Jerry Zimmerman and grandson Michael Zimmerman. A visitation will be from 4-8pm Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Mount Vernon Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Ln., Fair Oaks, CA 95628. The funeral service will be 12pm Thursday, June 23rd, also at Mount Vernon. "Buzz" was my Crew Chief in Outside Plant at McClellan AFB in the late 1950's. That began my contruction career which led to GEEIA, then to EI where I became a military commander. Buzz was a great guy who helped me in more ways than I can count. My condolences to the family.
