Charlie has rescued me many times over the 50+ years that I´ve known him. A lot of things can go wrong, but Charlie was steadfast and you could always rely on him. He will be greatly missed. The whole community of Harahan and River Ridge loved Charlie. My condolences to his family, who shared Charlie with us.

I just found out about Charlie. I am so saddened and it is so hard for me to find the words to express my sadness. I met Charlie & Linda in Mrs. Adam's 1st grade class on my first day & they both were so nice to me since I had just moved to the city & knew no one. Even though we didn't see each other very often once we reached High School, I was able to keep up with what was happening because his Mom & my family attended the same church (Kenner United Methodist) and she & Elaine kept me up to date on how they were doing. Charlie & reconnected when I had car problems & I needed someone I trusted to help me or give me advice. He was always a friend to me, no matter how long we went without seeing each other. Everytime I drove past the station I would make sure he was working & I knew all was well. I know that there are many others who relied on Charlie and we will always miss him but I know that he was glad to see his Dad, Mom & Linda again. I will remember him & his family in my prayers. God Bless him and Grant him an eternity of Peace.

END OF AN ERA... You could always see bustling activity in the turn in Harahan when you glanced at Charlie's service station : people waiting for Brake Tags or Tire repairs, etc. What a legacy you've left when so many people are crushed when they hear of you're passing and you've made an impresssion on them - everyone I told that Charlie died said NOOOOOO!!!
Here was a smart, kind, gentle man who made you feel just a little bit better for chatting with him a few minutes... Rest in Peace Mr Charlie

I am just finding this out or I would have come to the funeral, without a doubt. Charlie was one of the nicest, greatest people in the universe and no, I am NOT exaggerating one bit. Harahan and River Ridge have had the good fortune of having him and his crew (Rocky, Doug, etc.) for many years work on our cars, give us our break tags, fix our "flats" and enjoy his unique sense of humor. I have known him for over 55 years and truly thought the world of him. I'm sure the turnout for his service must have been astounding and am truly sorry that I was not there, as well. Charlie, we are all going to miss you so much. Enjoy Heaven. Not many people deserve it more than you, my friend.

Driving around the curve on Jefferson Hwy pass Mr. Charlie´s station always made you look to see if he was outside. It always made you feel happy that he was your friend. He solved problems that no one else in the business would even tackle. We all referred friends to him saying "you need to go see Mr. Charle- you can trust him, he´s the best! The outpouring of LOVE in this community proves this. Will miss you

My deepest condolences to Maria and all of Charlie’s family (Including Rocky and Rene, his co-workers at Charlie's). Charlie will be deeply missed by anyone who encountered him. He was not only my mechanic for many, many years, but also a kind and caring friend. He made every conversation seem that whatever I talked about was actually important. Sometimes people just need a willing ear. Charlie was always that friendly ear. My heart aches for the loss of such a kind person. Thoughts and prayers for the repose of his soul and for all of his loved ones who mourn his loss. Mimi Kelly

Unfortunately, I knew Charlie only professionally from his excellent auto, tire and brake tag service for me spanning decades. He was always very pleasant and congenial. My most heartfelt comment is my observation, often shared with my wife, that he (and Rocky) were the hardest working gentlemen I had ever seen. I truly admired them for their work ethic. They were there in the morning when I passed going to work, and they were there in the evening when I came home from work, six days a week. What great role models for others.

Mr.Charlie was so awesome to me and my daughter. He was always so helpful getting those nails out of our tires and checking to make sure everything was running well. He was a staple in Harahan/River Ridge area. He will be missed, especially the kindness that has been forgotten in most places.

So many wonderful memories of raucous Saturday nights, beautiful celebratory birthday & anniversary dinners, ringing in the New Year back in "the good ole days". Mel and I have lived in Atlanta for 38 years now but always stopped by to see Charlie at the Texaco when we came home. So glad we got to see him in June. Love that our grown children still call him Mr. Charlie and think he was the coolest guy in the world. Charlie was one of the most generous men I know and we are forever grateful for his friendship.

Charlie helped me so many times during the last twenty-two years. He called tow trucks for me, fixed countless tires, came to my home to jump my battery, and let me know when it was safe to use my car although it may have had some issue. Charlie helped my daughters when they had a car problem and he always asked me about them. Charlie was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by so many in the Harahan-River Ridge communities.
