Sunset on Dewey

To Cheryl's Family,

Her generosity of spirit, ever-present words of encouragement, bright and infectious laugh and love of a good book, drink and sun lakeside will forever be cherished my our family. She was always kind to my beloved Grandma Van and loved Dewey Lake so obviously. I remember very clearly Cheryl saying to Meghan "look in my eyes" when a little fib was suspected of her. What a good lesson for a couple of girls to learn back then. But recently, as a parent of two...

To Her Husband and Children,

I had the distinct privilege of knowing Cheryl Barrett for more than 25 years through my work in the probation field. We collaborated on several projects mostly in pursuit of services and programs for people in need of rehabilitation. From the moment we met, I was impressed with her devotion to her work, her boundless energy, and her perennially good spirits and infectious smile. She was an outstanding listener. Cheryl was unstintingly warm and...

To the Barrett family, I had the pleasure of meeting Cheryl several years ago through our work. I rarely got to see her but when I did she was so kind, sincere and genuine and always always had a smile! She's just one of those people who made you feel good simply by being in her presence. God bless.

Cheryl was a beautiful person with so much love and passion in her heart. She made me want to be a better person. I will have her forever in my heart. Deepest condolences to her family.

To the Barrett Family,

Although I never had the opportunity to meet you, I know how much you meant to Cheryl from my conversations with her. Cheryl was the consummate professional, but more importantly, a great friend to me. While we worked together alot over the past 10 plus years on a number of projects, my fondest memories are when she and I would talk about our respective family vacations and holidays. She was not only inspirational in a professional sense, but more...

My deepest condolences to you and your family.

We miss and love you Cheryl! Dennis and family: Our thoughts are with you...though you will never be alone...Cheryl will continue to guide and protect you forever!

I met Cheryl 10 years ago when I began working at the University of Illinois Springfield as the coordinator of the Probation and Detention training. I had the pleasure of working with Cheryl on the redesign of the training and also on committees and presentations. She felt strongly about the field of probation and detention and was committed to quality training in Illinois for the profession.
But more than all that, she spoke often about her family and her faith and how it was her...

Dear Family,

I met your mom through probation work - she was so kind to me and helpful. She was the kind of woman we can all strive to emulate. I am sure God will be happy to have her in heaven and although, you will miss her more than words can say, I know you will remember her blessings. Please accept my sympaty.
