Not sure what to say?

Dearest Eve, Hilary and Ben, I ran into Chris at Environmental events from time to time and just today planned to contact him to see if a group I lead on Mirror Lake could engage his services. Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your Dad and partner. Of course I knew him mostly through Conant and he was one of the kindest, most supportive fathers, in a group of truly caring people. Chris was such a good man, and my UMaine softball buddy. He would always bring his dog Otis, who we all loved. I will continue to miss his kind demeanor and friendship. Rest in peace my friend!

Hi Eve and family. I only recently learned that Chris has been given his angel wings. I send my deepest sympathies to you and your entire family. In honor of Chris, a truly wonderful human being and artist!! I recall the adventure of driving to the Aspen music festival with Chris, and meeting you both in Burlington in our younger days! Chris added so much joy to life and was a deeply kind, gentle person. I miss his presence among us all. My prayers to you. Laura

I met Chris while studying classical guitar at UVM.We played guitars together often.A unique individual.

Chris was someone I feel very fortunate to have known and shared good times with. Our paths crossed as a result of our mutual enthusiasm for old trees and old growth forests and we had exciting excursions to places where we looked for wild forests and rare plants. Thanks to Chris, these are among my most treasured memories. On a personal level, I greatly admired Chris´ respect for and intense interest in nature and his kind and open way of being.

It is Chris´ generosity of spirit and enthusiasm that we remember first and most. Whether it was drifting for stripers when Chris was always happier for someone else to catch the big one, or botanizing and sharing amazing finds with a spirit of collaboration and acknowledgment for fellow colleagues, or his passion and appreciation for old growth forests and the history and importance of biodiversity that those old trees know even better than we do. Chris´ talents as an ecologist, angler,...
