The Fairbanks were such a large part of my childhood. We traded ski gear in the fall and skied together in the winter. The big 4th of July celebrations, Octoberfest, weekends at the lodge and the "packing crate" house are all happy remembrances of times spent together. May happy memories of your mother help you through the present sadness.
