Christopher Bucher lost his courageous battle with cancer on September 4, 2010. He is survived by his adored and loving wife of 21 years and best friend, Sherry Cramer Bucher and his beloved daughters, Mackenzie Marie Bucher and Madison Nicole Bucher. He is predeceased by his father, Edward Bucher. He is survived by his mother, Rosemarie Bucher. He is also survived by his siblings, Jeanmarie Bucher Reahl (Joseph), Kenneth Bucher (Kathryn), and James Bucher (Donna). He is predeceased by father-in-law Mel LeGette. He is also survived by his mother-in law, Doris LeGette, father-in-law James Cramer (Patricia), brothers-in-law Jeffrey Cramer (Dorothy), Randy Cramer (Robin), and Mark LeGette (Diane) and sisters-in-law Ashley and Angela Cramer. He was also a loving uncle to Jacob, Samantha, and Stephanie Bucher, Zachary Reahl, Jennifer and Jamison Cramer, and Jake LeGette. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and family friends.
A graduate of Oakton High School in Oakton, Virginia, Chris graduated Magna cum laude from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1981 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He began his engineering career with Dewberry, Davis, Black & Veatch and moved to Clark Construction in 1982 as Project Manager, progressing to Senior Project Manager where he oversaw construction of several building and water treatment projects. In 1984, He moved to Shirley Contracting Corporation as Vice President and Contract Manager where he oversaw the contract and sub-contract section as well as the overall management of all contracts with the Virginia Department of Transportation. He ultimately moved into his current role as Senior Vice President.
Chris loved Hokies football, fantasy football and was an avid golfer. His favorite pastimes included lounging with family and friends around the pool, relaxing on the lake and beach, country music and just enjoying life's pleasures. Most of all, he and Sherry enjoyed watching their daughters, Mackenzie and Madison grow up through the years with all of their many school activities, years of cheerleading and family vacations.
The family would like to thank Dr. Husain and his Oncology team at Johns Hopkins University Hospital and Dr. Nagel and his team at Lansdowne Hospital for the wonderful care and support they provided Chris and the family during his treatment.
Chris was loved by so many for his zest for life, his positive attitude, his sense of humor and his courage but most of all for the love he had for his family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 6-8pm at Colonial Funeral Home. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 1:00pm at Cornerstone Chapel,742 Miller Drive
