Christopher "Chris" Finger, born February 10, 1952, was quite literally a man of many hats. He grew up in Cold Spring Harbor, NY, number three in a line of four boys, and was in as much mischief as he could find growing up in the 60s. In his college years, he developed a love of insects that...

I first met Chris at the USDA Sugarcane Research Unit during the summers of 1979 and 1980. He made a significant contribution to the Louisiana sugar industry that continues with his son Atticus and daughter Mavis. I would rank Chris as one of the top scientist to cross the doorway at the USDA-ARS researach station in Houma. He was bright, well read, and humble in spirit. Chris also knew how to have fun - a 50 caliber salute to Chris Finger.

I used to work with Chris a very long time ago at the USDA I can say he ALWAYS had a smile. Which always made you feel good (even if you were crawling out of a VERY HOT FIELD of sugar cane) May he join his lovely wife in heaven

My great summer woodsman and cousin. Not much contact in our adult lives, but spent all summer together when he stayed with our grandmother Sarah Finger in VT.
Hunt well my friend!

I am so sorry about Chris passing. I knew him from his work at the USDA Sugar Station in Houma. He always had a big smile and had an answer for many questing on insects and sugarcane and vegetable production. My thought's and prayers go out to his family in this time of loss of a good man.
