William Service

October 14, 2024

My name is Bill Service, a neighbor of Clay for many years in KCK. I will always remember Clay for riding his bicycle in the neighborhood and singing the song of Elvis , "Shake, Rattle and Row". The Lafayette neighborhood Butch, Pat, Dick, Joey, Joyce, Arlene and others always played ball and hide and seek until 8 PM. We also knew him as Fred or Freddy. He was always happy and willing to help. I visited with Clay in the last year. I heard the remarkable stories of his service as a Fireman. He truly was a hero which maybe a lot of people did not know. He saved numerous lives- some old and some young. He never talked about his heroic service as a fireman. May God Bless
