OBITUARY

Henry DeWayne Corner, 71, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on January 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Henry was born July 14, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the union of Henry Corner and Marilyn H. Corner, who both preceded him in death.

In 1972, Henry graduated from East High School in Waterloo, Iowa. After high school, he worked for John Deere Tractor Operations before enlisting in the military. Henry joined the United States Army in September of 1973 and served under the 82nd Airborne Division until honorably discharged on June 23, 1980. Subsequently, he worked at IBM in Research Triangle Park until he joined the United States Postal Service on May 1, 1982, retiring on August 1, 2009.

Henry married the love of his life, Donnie, on July 28, 1979. They shared a blissful 46 years of unconditional love. Henry cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Papa."

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dental R. Corner and Henry L. Corner, and his sisters, Doris A. Corner, Ruby L. Peoples, and Diane R. Corner.

Henry is survived by his wife, Donnie M. Corner of Fayetteville, NC; his daughter, Nicole E. Corner of Philadelphia, PA; his two sons, Christopher D. Corner (Sherata) of Fayetteville, NC, and Justin T. Corner (Charity) of Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren, Kristin, Joshua, Nathan, Elijah, and Kennedy; his siblings, Joyce Anne Floyd, Mary Corner, Marylss Johnson (Andre), Deidre M. Johnson (Maurice), and Kirkland D. Corner (Michele); two sisters-in-law, Karen Harris and Irish Hayes; one brother-in-law, Rodney Melvin (Cynthia); a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and his special friends, as he called them, the "USPS Retiree Breakfast Buddies."

Henry walked this journey with a heart fully devoted to Christ, believing and living the truth of his favorite verse, Galatians 2:20-that Christ lived in him-and knowing his life was guided by his faith in Christ. His love for God was reflected in his love for people, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, encouragement, and unwavering trust in the Lord. While our family mourns his passing, we celebrate a life well lived and a soul now at rest with Jesus.

Mr. Hank was a great neighbor and took care of me and my daughter if or when we needed help. I enjoyed our conversations, especially when he came to Rainbow Restaurant for breakfast. He will truly be missed by all.
