Concetta "Connie" Montesi, 96 years old, passed peacefully at home in East Hartford, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 22nd. She was born in Hartford in January, 1929, to Erneste and Maria (D'Elia) Manente. Connie was the loving mother to Lynn (Andy) Ross, John, Robert (Anne) and Michael (Kathy); and was proud, yet always humble grandmother to Rachel Hettrick (Dawson), Hannah, Jack, Luke and Ella Montesi, and aunt to a very special niece, Donna Stevens (Mark), all of with whom she enjoyed many joyous occasions and lots of laughter. They were the light of her life, and her home of over 60 years, where she was surrounded by great memories and wonderful neighbors who became dear friends, was her sanctuary. It was there she raised her four children, tended to her lush garden with young grandchildren, and made countless delicious meals and baked concoctions. Her coffee rings were famous, and her Easter bread was especially loved. Family and friends often joked that they couldn't wait for the next funeral so they could get a slice of that amazing coffee ring.
Later in life, after having been a full-time homemaker, Connie worked at the Department of Revenue Services, from which she retired after over a decade of dedicated service. She really enjoyed meeting members of the general public and interacting with her colleagues.
Connie leaves many other nieces, nephews and their families, and was predeceased by many dear friends and family including her eldest two children, Lynn and John, her sisters Anna Rodvan (Paul), Rose Dolan (George), brothers Carmine Manente (Edith), Horace Manente (Mafalda), Ernest Manente and Edward DeAngelis (Dominica).
Our family would like to sincerely thank all of the compassionate caregivers, especially Maureen, Beatriz, Mirandah and Elena (CCCI), who, along with wonderful neighbors, helped Connie remain in her home her entire life.
