Connie befriended me immediately when I went to work at the Stephenson Cancer Center, and she quickly became my best friend and advocate. When I left almost four years later, Connie came to Arizona to visit me for a week, and we had such a good time! I never imagined it would be our last visit. Life after that visit became more challenging for both of us health wise and career wise. I, being older and married could retire, but Connie had to stay in the trenches and fight it out.
