As a close childhood friend of Mr. Lang's daughter Laurie, I was able to know Mr. Lang in a different light from his students. He had the most wonderful and clever sense of humor -- always with a twinkle in his eye and an all-knowing grin. He was a good and principled person and a pleasure to have known.

I had the privilege of being in Mr. Lang's class in the early 60's at Modesto High. A favorite memory is him being late for class, something he never was, and came in looking like he was battling the system very hard that day. As he sternly walked to the front of the class, we all burst into a song from the movie "Bye Bye Birdie" - "We love you Conrad, oh yes we do. We love you Conrad and we'll be true. When you're not with us, we're blue. Oh Conrad we love you!" He started to smile and...
