CONSUELO HERNANDEZ PHARR - Consuelo Hernandez, 82, born on December 31, 1932 in Linares, Mexico to Consuelo G. and Victor Hernandez, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015 in McAllen after a long illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Consuelo G. and Victor Hernandez; brothers, Juan, Lupe, and Gustavo Hernandez all of Pharr; nephews, Alfredo, Roberto, Victor, Juan, Arturo, and Manuel Hernandez all from the valley. She is survived by her daughter, San Juana Sandroussi; son-in-law, William M. Sandroussi of Alice, Texas; son, Jack (Stephanie) Hernandez of Toledo, Ohio; sister, Elva Quintero of Pharr; and adopted sister, Linda Hernandez Losoya of Weslaco. Ms. Hernandez came to the United States at age 12 with her family and soon became an employee of the Valley Fruit Produce Company for many years. Later, the entire family moved up north to Detroit, Michigan where the family lived while her father worked at the Michigan Railoroad. She worked, bore a daughter, then became a homemaker. In 1972, after her father retired, the whole family returned to Pharr, Texas. Returning to Pharr, she helped raise many of her nieces and nephews while working as a seamstress and a child care giver. Ms. Consuelo loved her family very, very much. Her first priority was definitely her family, followed by her religion, and her book reading. Although, Ms. Hernandez never learned to drive a car, she never missed a concert, school play, or school activity of both her children. You could always find Ms. Hernandez in the kitchen cooking for the day with the radio on and a big smile on her face. She lived the final years of her life at Las Palmas Nursing Center where she was given the best quality of care while family and friends would visit her until her final days. Visitation will be from 9am to 9pm with a 7pm rosary today December 23, 2015 at De Leon Funeral Home of Pharr. A chapel service will be at 10am on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at De Leon Funeral Home with Deacon Castro to officiate. Burial will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr under the direction of De Leon Funeral Home of Pharr. Sign the guestbook at
