PEORIA HEIGHTS - Craig Steven Walker, 61, of Peoria Heights passed away at 11:42 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
Craig was born May 28, 1953, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Louis and Phyllis Knaggs Walker. He married Laura Arnold on April 29, 1978.
He is survived by his three sons, Christopher Walker of Washington, Brandon Walker of Peoria Heights and Dr. Matthew (Megan) Walker of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Bentley, Navin and Violet; his wife, Laura Walker of Washington; and one sister, Lynn (Steven) Kellogg of Dunlap.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents.
He attended Richwoods High School and graduated in 1971. He was also a member of the Air National Guard for six years.
He was the hard-working owner/operator of Walker and Sons in Peoria Heights, a contracting and roofing company. He later pursued his love of cars when he opened a small car dealership and mechanic shop.
He was a kind, easygoing, generous and trustworthy man, both in his business and personal life. With a jubilant laugh that could be heard across the room, one could not help but immediately smile and want to befriend him. He could often be found in his office telling stories to any number of ensnared audience members.
In his free time he liked to restore antique cars, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was a compassionate and gentle soul who will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a fund set up for his grandchildren's education.

The common theme about Craig's life is that he was a good person that was willing to help anyone. What a wonderful compliment that would make anyone proud. I will miss him greatly but feel blessed to be part of his life.

Our son Mike enjoyed many hours at your house in high school. It was his go-to place. He learned a lot the summer he roofed for Walker & Sons - boy did he get strong and tan!
Holding you all up in prayer,
