Dale W. Ellis, 53, of Savannah, passed away on Friday, Jan 7, 2005 at Hospice Savannah, Inc. Dale was a lifelong resident of Savannah and was schooled in the public school system here, graduating from H. V. Jenkins High School in 1970. He also attended Carlisle Military Academy in Bamberg, S.C....
Read MoreDale was one of the first people I met after coming to Savannah almost 20 years ago. He was a good friend, and always had useful advice to offer. ( I had never met any one who ran into more "deals" !) I can't drive down LaRoche Ave without thinking of him . He will be missed.

The last time I saw Dale was 2001 before I moved to Dallas. I ran into Dale almost weekly at the Post Office on Eisenhower and he was always cheerful. The last thing he asked me to do was to call my childhood friend, Suzanne
Stricland Smith, whom I had not talked to in years. I guess I should do now what he asked of me so long ago. He was a wonderful witness for his faith in God. God

Several years ago Dale told me this poem:
Don't walk before me
I may not follow
Don't walk behind me
I may not lead
Walk beside me
And be my friend
Dale was the true embodiment of this poem. I am sorry for his health problems but happy to know he is with the Lord.
