Not sure what to say?

I´m so sorry to hear of Dales passing, but grateful for his long life, his kindness, sharp and analytical mind, and his steadfast energy. We became friends during my return to Raleigh for graduate school. He felt like my Quaker grandfather in someways, and we enjoyed lunches together and thinking about what to do with his landscape, and family genealogy projects. He made a great bread and soup . Sending so much love to Dale and to his family and friends that he deeply cared for.

Dale was a friend during my 5 years at NCSU. I valued his razor-sharp analytical insight and his unfailing humor. With deepest sympathy. Russell Lamb, Ph.D.

Dale was one of the first to greet us when my wife and I began attending Raleigh Friends Meeting in the Fall of 1970. His warm, caring spirit was grounding and supportive as we integrated into the Quaker community. Over the years Dale served as a personal mentor, friend, and model for how kindness, strength, humor, and faithfulness are lived. Dale was a blessing that will endure for his family and many friends.

Khaled from Bangladesh sent condolences I have not seen post. In the early days of Covid, I suggested he send some research on supply chains to Dale, who helped him refine it for publication. Khaled is London School of Economics through the extension program.

I was introduced to Mr. Hoover around 2011 thru my significant other John Owen. John and Dale had been friends for many years. I found Mr. Hoover to be a very kind, caring, gentlemen who thought a lot of his family. I enjoyed the few conversations we had when John and I visited Dale at his home in Raleigh. I feel Dale is at peace and thankful he did not linger. Sincere condolences to all of Dales family and friends. A good soul. He will be greatly missed.

I will miss Dale joining Lew and I for lunch occasionally. He was a truly nice guy and I send my sympathies to his family.

Alex, Rebecca & family - I´m so deeply sorry for your loss. May all the beautiful memories bring you peace & comfort during this difficult time.

Dale was my colleague at NCSU during the early 80´s. He was noted among colleagues for his work with the American Friends Service Committee.

I met Dale at Raleigh Friends and always enjoyed his sweet, calm manner and occasional insights shared during meeting for worship. A lovely man, he will be much missed.
