I think of Dan nearly every day. Sometimes it's something someone says or does or the "way" they say or do it. Every time I hear a laugh (which happens every day) I think of the laughter that Dan shared with me, oh those many years ago. When I think of the "near" trouble we (almost) got into ..haha...and the just plain living our youthful years together.....the best....the joy that I carry for the rest of my life is due in no small measure to our friendship.........and because of that I...

Dan Anderson was larger than life. While I am not fond of cliche, this one was invented for the likes Dan. Without any hesitation, he was the finest teacher I experienced, especially at a time when I needed it most. Distilled, likely the most important lesson I learned from Dan was how to be equipped to continue learning as a life long pursuit, and forever be curious about this crazy and fascinating world. Dan was like an older brother to me as we were growing up. My parents were Dan's God parents and we were in the same Confirmation Class at Zion Lutheran Church. Great memories of Luther League outings to the Anderson's cabin on Trout Brook. Condolences to Dan's family. Try to learn to live with the love he left behind. Gone from our lives but not our hearts. My sincere sympathy to you and your family, Caroline. May you be comforted by the love of so many friends and family members who loved you and Dan; so many who admired the artful beauty you both created. I'll always lovingly remember Dan as Uncle Louie, the sweet artist who made a huge pot for me covered with macrame...I still have it. May God bless you and hold you through this time of grieving.

I got to know Dan at Our Lord's Lutheran Church. Later I got to the know talented artist. Dan was a great guy, and I want to extend my sincere condolences to his beautiful family.

Caroline, We were so sadden to hear of Dan's passing. We have you and the girls in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know when you plan the memorial service.

Dan and I worked together for 30 years @ SIUE. We shared many undergrad and graduate students. He launched a bunch of students careers after SIUE. He contributed to development of Edwardsville Arts Center, Sacred Grounds displays and others. He was highly regarded nationally for ceramics. Yes, I will miss him. Condolences to Caroline and family.
