Daniel F. Antoniak, 72, and his wife, Ruth H. Antoniak, 68, of Jeannette, died in a tragic car accident on Thursday, July 2, 2009. Daniel was born Nov. 20, 1936, in Jeannette, a son of the late Ignatius and Agnes Zelachowski Antoniak. Prior to his retirement, Dan was employed by the State Police Barracks in Greensburg. He was a veteran, having served in the Navy, and a member of Sacred Heart Church, in Jeannette, and its Holy Name Society, and the Knights of Columbus Council 1222 Shuffleboard League. Both Dan and Ruth were social members of American Legion Post 344, the Polish Brotherhood of White Eagles, the High Park Social Club and the Ukrainian Club, all of Jeannette, and the Penn Rod & Gun Club. They also were avid Jayhawks fans. Their biggest joys in life were their grandchildren, whom they cherished and loved dearly. Ruth was born May 8, 1941, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late William and Lenora Gounder Fallas. Prior to her retirement, Ruth was employed by the former McKee Press Co., of Jeannette. Ruth also was a member of Sacred Heart Church and its Rosary Altar Society. Dan and Ruth were proud residents of Jeannette, loved by many and will be sadly missed by all. They are survived by their daughters, Linda Metz and husband, Ronald, of Jeannette, and Lori Chrisman and husband, John, of North Huntingdon; and their grandchildren, Emily, Corey, Hannah and Connor Chrisman. In addition to his parents, Daniel was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Leonard and Carl Antoniak. He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Tanyer, of North Huntingdon, and Martha Bair and husband, Harry, of Jeannette. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by two brothers, William and Richard Fallas; and a sister, Ann Kuntz. They are also survived by three stepgrandsons and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette. The Sacred Heart Rosary Altar Society and the Holy Name Society combined will pray the rosary at 3:45 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Church with Father John M. Foriska as celebrant. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to church.) Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, with military honors accorded for Dan by the Jeannette Combined Veterans. Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G.
