Yup. Still miss him. My memory of him comes to life whenever we have a nice, sunny, warm-ish, afternoon..... I can still see him sitting out there on their deck sitting in the warm sun. We moved in across the way from Dan & Carol in 1997, and always considered him my friend. He loved to sit out on his back porch on many a sunshine-y afternoon, just enjoying the day. When we'd see him out, many times I'd walk over, sit down in the chair next to him, and we'd visit for a bit. It was always fun. Dan Bates was my favorite principal in my 33 years of teaching. He was kind and caring. He loved his staff and our students. He treated everyone with respect. Rest in peace Mr. Bates.
