Mr. Deane was my supervising teacher as I began my career as a teacher 18 years ago. He instilled in me the value of what it means to be an educator. Interestingly enough, He is the first in a professional line of art teachers (art family tree of sorts) that now spans 6 steps (Mr. Deane, Mr. Hale, Mr. Sandford, Ms. Tucker, Me, and my former student now teacher Miss Schentrup. I can see a little bit of him in every one of us. Thanks Mr. Deane for everything.

I recognized his smile instantly. I was a member of CKYO when Mr. Deane was a chaperone on our Russia/Romania trip. His personality was very engaging. He loved being with kids and his love of life was infectious. I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.

I was a Kappa Sigma fraternity brother of Dick at UK and although I had not seen Dick for years I still have fond memories of Dick around the frat house during our time at UK and I offer my most sincere condolences to his family.
