We will miss hearing his voice and ideas, his vision, on Tuesday nights. I know we are many, these Tuesday listeners, and we are everywhere; now with a gap to fill with thanks for Dan Garr.

Dear Garr family,
Dan was my neighbor beginning about 1972 on Brown Gables Rd. I remember him as a helpful and fun person, loving animals and music with such passion! It is with great sadness that I think of him gone in such a tragic way; he was such a peaceful person. After moving away from Ben Lomond I was out of touch with Dan, but have never forgotten him--and never will. I am so sorry for your loss. Barbara (Villa) Rowland

Dan was a colleague of mine at San Jose State and we became closer after the 1989 earthquake, when we would ride the Highway 17 bus together from Santa Cruz to SJSU. I still picture him with his huge old-fashioned, leather brief case as he hurriedly walked across campus on his bandy legs.
Since the accident I would stop by and visit and talk about life, the world, how things had changed in his lifetime. Our conversations were warm and his intelligence always fascinated me.

I was a student of Dan's at San Jose State in the mid-70's and also a friend. I had lost touch with Dan over the years since I moved from the Bay area in 1981. I just happened to google his name today, Jan. 16, 2011, and his obituary popped up. It was quite a shock!
I remember him as a great conversationalist and his deep interest in classical music and animals. I know he will be missed by his family and friends and community. My deepist sympathyies are with his wife and family.

Jennifer...I've known Dan since I was about 10 years old. He was my neighbor and contributed poignant memories. (I believe I have photos if you would like). In my 20's we re-connected...I an adult who lived with him for about a year. Childhood, adulthood.... knowing him for both events. A significant person for me and I'm sad and feel a loss. I remember Bonong and Arjuna, his beloved cats at the time. Mine trying to fit in, his accomplished piano playing and passion for music, KUSP, his...

Jennifer and Vivian, I am very sorry to hear this news. I have known Dan since the accident and have gotten to know him over the years in our working relationship. He was a trusting man and cared about his friends. I will miss him.
