Danny Barnett Obituary

GRANITE FALLS - Danny Lynn Barnett, 57, of Granite Falls, went to be with the Lord, Monday, Nov. 22, 2010. Born Sept. 5, 1953, in Iredell County, he was the son of Robert William Barnett and Kathryn Brown Barnett. Danny worked for 16 years at Hunt Galleries. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, "Paw Paw," brother and son. Danny was a Christian and member of Christ United Methodist Church, and sang with the gospel group Gospel Trailblazers. He enjoyed his family and woodworking. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gaye Winebarger Barnett; daughter, Stacy Shull and husband, Chad, of Bethlehem; son, Brooks Barnett and wife, Christy, of Salem Va.; grandchildren, Alaina Barnett, Will Barnett, Mason Barnett, Tanner Shull and Matthew Shull; sisters, Shirley Snow and husband, Joel, of Lexington, Va., and Brenda Cooper of Statesville; several nieces and nephews; and his three canine companions, Chubby, Bea and Lilly. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Christ United Methodist Church, 2416 Zion Church Road, Hickory, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Kyker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 10124, Hickory, N.C. 28603. Condolences may be sent to the Barnett family at www.drumfuneralhome.com. The Barnett family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 940 29th Ave., NE, Hickory, (828) 267-5740.
