Not sure what to say?

My heartfelt sympathy to my long time friend, Merilyn, at this tender time. I know it is so hard to part with your best friend and true love. Darrell was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be missed greatly. I wish you the best as you adjust to this enormous change in your family.

Dear Merilyn and family, we were stunned to hear of the Colonels passing. We enjoyed being your neighbors and were always grateful for the array of vegetables you two so thoughtfully shared. Darrell was our incentive to keep our yard looking as nice as yours. We miss the flying flags of his beloved corp and old glory. Sending love and condolences to you. Love your former neighbors Nick and Debra Miller

Merilyn - first I want to apologize for missing the viewings. I had talked to Bardee, who is out of town on vacation and she and Wayne send their sympathies, and she said she thought the paper said Monday or Tuesday but had thrown it away. I was SO sad when I finally pulled up the obituary this morning and realized that I had missed EVERYTHING!! I am so sorry, you and Darrell were such dear friends and I feel I have let both of you down. Darrell was a wonderful man and will be dearly...

Dear Merilyn,
Bob and I were SO surprised to read about your wonderful Darrell, as he was the active and healthy one! Must have been a sudden illness and we hope it has not been too terribly hard on you. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May you be blessed with the very special things you need.
Love and Aloha,
Bob and Lawrin Standing

He was firm but kind. A respected man. So sorry for your loss.

Darrell was my high school tennis coach, I didn't fully appreciate who Darrell was back then many years ago. About 4 or 5 years ago group of us got together to play tennis every week. Darrell was often among the group. In his 70's he was still competitive. I had the pleasure of playing doubles with Darrell in the spring in a special event. We love and we will miss him in our tennis group. Heaven is a better place today having received Darrell. My
heart felt wishes go out to his...

My Dad,
With heart felt sorrow for our lost and the many years of fond memories of our dad. I will surely miss my Dad, his advice that I sought during times of need and his unconditional love. May he rest in peace and continue the Lord's great work.
With all my love,
Son Cassidy

I consider myself one of Darrell's biggest fans. I admire him for his stature as a husband, a bishop, a school administrator and serviceman. He was a buddy to me as a sportsman and a mentor as an athlete. He will sorely be missed on the tennis courts by many of us!
