David Ragsdale Hite (also lovingly known as Debo), age 74, was peacefully called home on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at his residence in McKenney, VA. He was born August 26, 1949, to the late Willie and Dora Hite. He was preceded in death by his sister Mrs. Mattie Mallory and his brothers Walter and Anderson Hite.


David was baptized at an early age and sang in the church. He attended high school in Dinwiddie, Virginia. He also earned a heavy equipment operator’s certificate from Southside Vocational Trade School in Blackstone, Virginia. He was very passionate about drag racing, so he learned how to build drag racing cars for himself and many others in the back yard of his residence.


David worked for Phillip Morris Products International in McKenney, Virginia for several years. He also was always willing to help others repair their vehicles. He loved his family and friends and would do whatever he could to help them. He also loved music and played the guitar. He
played the guitar for his family and friends during gatherings. He was married to the late Clementine Hite and to this union one son was born, Dwayne.


David’s memory will forever be cherished by his loving son and daughter-in-law Dwayne and Alicia Hite, daughter and son-in-law Demetria and Dennis Hardy, his son Shannon Blackwell, his daughter Dedric Dagner, and his daughter Dyesha Dagner. Grandsons James Frazier, DaMonte
Thomas (Carina), and Tone Herndon. Granddaughters Camren Hite, Kenidee Hite, Shameka Hardy, and Sequita Hardy. Great grandchildren DaMonte Thomas Jr, Brooklyn Thomas, Zemira Thomas, Genisis Thomas, Zion Thomas, and Tyraye Hardy. A devoted sister Rosa Yates
McKenney, VA, faithful brother John Hite, McKenney, VA and loyal nieces and nephews Audrey Wallace, Lewis Yates, Johnson Hite, Linda Preston, Regina Hite, Daryl Hite, LaToya Hite, and LaKeisa Monclova. He also has a host of family and friends that were very dedicated to him.


A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, October, 7, 2023, at the McKenney Chapel of the Joseph M. Johnson and Son funeral home. a public viewing will take place from 12 to 7 pm on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the McKenney Chapel of the Joseph M. Johnson and Son Funeral Home.

He had a 64 Malibu convertible.

He had several Chevy Chevelles. This was the color of the last one he had. His nephew Lewis Yates was his riding partner. He said the fastest one he had was a blue 70 with a small block 400.

He had a 67 Gran Sport with 396 Chevy big block. It picked the front wheels off the ground!
