It is so nice to see that David never lost his charm and adventure.. I met David when I was 14 years old.. and he made an indelible affect on my entire life.. I went with him to his Senior Prom at Newton High School..I was a drum majorette and he played the trombone in the marching band. I marched directly in front of him...We went "steady" in High School.. until he went to St. Olaf College. (I was 2 years his junior) We kept in touch with each other for years following.. My friendship with David originated in the Fall of 1955 in Steensland Hall during daily rehearsals with the St. Olaf Choir. It was then and there that I became aware of his beautiful lyric tenor voice, a golden voice that not only qualified him for membership in the varsity choir but also assured his eminent position in the Greater Brotherhood of Fubar. We needed that brilliant sonority in the upper range to provide harmonic balance for our unique repertoire of Fubar songs. Hence, David...

Fubar Tributes to “Cricket”

About five years ago Cricket invited me to go with him to Florida - to touch base with his old friends there, and sing in a church choir. Seems he had a friend who, like Cricket, loved singing and flying - this was an old barnstormer who used to do tricks at airshows. Well, it was an adventure, including some of the best keylime pie I ever had, hearing old air force blarney, and singing in this small church choir - altogether memorable. Cricket...

In memory of our tenor "Cricket," and a wonderful Fubar friendship forged from days memorable together at St. Olaf, and happy times together, often, over the years.

I was so sorry to see David's obituary. He was a very old friend from grade school in Delaware, Ohio. He left Delaware in the 8th grade and I only recently found out about the extraordinary life that he had. His sister Karen was in my sister Judy's class in grade school and his mother Ingeborg was our music teacher. I know he had a wonderful family and they will all miss their dad, brother and grandpa. My very deepest sympathy to all of his family and friends.
