When I crossed paths with Dave, be it meals that we shared, talking garden tools, or trips to and from his home to join JoAnn for work, swimming, cycling, or just to be together, his huge, warm smile and hug greeted me, and made me smile also. Dave was my best friend. In the 49 years I knew him he always made me feel that our friendship was an important part of his life. He was always kind even when he disagreed often saying "People see the truth in different ways". He was a stubborn man when he felt that his opinion on a subject was correct and he would often continue to discuss a point till he won you over. While I didn't know Dave directly I feel that I knew him through my friendship with his wife Joann. In reading the many remembrances , I am struck by the fact that he lived a rich life as a light in the world . I believe his loving spirit will live on forever.
