David H Karre

David H Karre, age 85, of Lincoln, Neb., passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025.
David was born on February 22, 1940, to Horace W. Karre and Monica R (Smyth) Karre, on the family farm near Scotia, Neb. He graduated from Scotia High School and Kearney State Teachers College.
David and Bette (Wilson) Karre were married in Ord, Neb., on August 10, 1963, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
David taught Biology at Scribner High School from 1962 to 1965. The family moved to Lincoln in 1965 when David started working at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He went on to work there for 35 years, with most of that time being in the purchasing department.
David participated in several sports over the years. Baseball as a teenager, later playing softball when they came to Lincoln. He was a pretty good bowler as well, going to Nationals several times and earning a sixth place in doubles in 2006. He played on the St. John's golf league and also a Goodyear golf league. Later after retirement he was still a substitute for the golf leagues.
David was also an avid deer hunter. He traveled back near where he grew up to do most of his hunting, often staying with his mother and later with his sister. He enjoyed being outside gardening, mowing and taking long walks through the neighborhood.
David was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, where he was part of the Friday Lent Fish Fry crew for several years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus organization. In his retirement years, he worked with his wife, Bette, as a helper in the school cafeteria.
David is survived by his children, Karen Randall, Linda Larson (Lance), and Steven Karre; as well as his grandchildren, Angeline Randall, Jay Randall, Sarah Larson and Jennifer Larson; and siblings, Nancy Donovan, Donna Wardyn, and Daniel Karre.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette; and siblings, Fredrick Karre, Margaret Peters, Mary Hoffman, Theodore Karre and Janet Murphy.
Rosary will be on Friday, July, 2025, at 10 a.m, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 7601 Vine Street, Lincoln, NE 68505. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m at Lincoln Memorial Park, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, NE. 68512.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the
