David became friends with Malachy and Frank McCourt. Frank won the Pulitzer Prize for his book, "Angela´s Ashes". Frank died and Malachy is now in Hospice in NYC. All 3 of them were very nice men and friends. Mike Gibbons

I was very sad to learn of David's passing today,11 months later. My ex-husband and I named our daughter Juliana Brophy, after his daughter, after hearing his story on GMA Sept 11, 2002.
