Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this time of loss, The Cunningham family.

Coach Mercer always pushed me to be a better person and athlete.

One of my favorite teachers and an excellent coach. I remember that basketball game, he was amazing. He was a life coach before that term was popular. Thanks Coach!!

So very sorry to read of Dave's passing. He coached our boys at SLV and was always so pleasant to talk with. Our deepest condolences to Chris and sons. Earl & Ruthie Sutherland

Please accept my condolences to the Mercer family I officiated football for 20 years and there were no games better than Dave´s. What a great coach and truly a gentleman!!!! I often wished that all coaches could be like Dave. RIP Coach!!!!

My good friend for 4 years at Watsonville High School. I remember Dave always wearing a smile and greeting people in the halls as he walked to class. I went to everyone of our football and basketball games and was always impressed by his athletic ability. He was a great guy, adored by all who knew him. My heart is broken at his passing. My sincere condolences to his lovely wife, Chris and his sons and grandchildren. They were his world.

Chris, Brian, Mark, Jeff and all of the Mercer grandchildren. Coach Mercer was such an important person in my life. I was fortunate to be able to tell him that couple of years ago. I was manager of his first basketball team at SLV and was on his teams the next two years. I was the score keeper and stat...

Oh My Goodness!! I find this extremely painful! I had the pleasure of being part of his Watsonville High School athletic accomplishments. We were part of the basketball and baseball teams from 1960-1963. David was very athletic and I enjoyed watching him play be it football, basketball or baseball. David was always a gentleman and a very respectful. I will miss him. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wonderful family, relatives and friends. I have water in my eye.

My favorite Coach I had the honor of officiating football for Coach and both sons . A wonderful , supportive and very kind person
