Uncle Dave was a kind man and important part of our family and my life. I will always remember our visits with him and Aunt Altie with my Grandmother as a young child. I would often see Uncle Dave as he traveled back and forth around 7th Street with double American flags flying from his car. Mr. Dave was the nicest, kindest, and most generous neighbor. He always looked out for his neighbors and friends. So many folks who walked down Maxwell alley were greeted by him with a big smile and friendly hello, and he knew many by their first names. If he didn't know it, they were 'young lady' or 'young man', which those of us over 50 always loved to hear!
