Uncle Dave was a kind man and important part of our family and my life. I will always remember our visits with him and Aunt Altie with my Grandmother as a young child. I would often see Uncle Dave as he traveled back and forth around 7th Street with double American flags flying from his car. He was very proud of our country and was a fixture in the 7th Street community, FMH and his beloved Keys! I often heard my friends from Hood College who would visit the FMH cafeteria mention that Uncle Dave would say to them how he was proud of his great nephew who worked at Hood. This always made me feel good to hear and it was humbling that he would regularly think of me. Rest in Peace Uncle Dave!

Mr. Dave was the nicest, kindest, and most generous neighbor. He always looked out for his neighbors and friends. So many folks who walked down Maxwell alley were greeted by him with a big smile and friendly hello, and he knew many by their first names. If he didn't know it, they were 'young lady' or 'young man', which those of us over 50 always loved to hear! I will miss you dear friend and think of you every time I see lights flickering at night and flags proudly displayed. You brought much light and joy into the world and I am blessed to have known you.
