I was saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I just found out about his death yesterday 1/26/09. Had I known it would have been my privledge to have attended his service. I was thinking of Dave several days ago and was hoping that we would cross paths at one of the Idaho Power parties or picnics in the near future but saddely this will now not happen. I own and operate a forum for the discussion of British cars. With nearly 10,000 members, it isn't often someone stands out in the crowd, but Dave certainly did. So much so that we have decided to create an annual "Dave Russell" award to be given to the forum member who best displays the unselfish sharing of knowledge that Dave exemplified. Through his participation on our forum, Dave touched the lives of many people all over the world. He will be missed, but not forgotten.

I knew Dave through the British car club, but I will remember him not by the car he restored, but by the examples he lived. He was quiet, but not timid. He always had a smile and a kind word. He was friendly, knowlegeable, and reliable but rarely the center of attention. He left this world a better place.

I always enjoyed visiting with Dave at coffee and on our outings. He always made me smile with his wonderful dry humor. I believe it isn't the trip you take but the friends that you meet on the way that make life special. Dave was a good friend and I will miss him.

I met Dave only a few times at car meets, but we corresponded via email many times and I've never met anyone so knowledgeable and anxious to help others with his knowledge. Soft-spoken and kind, he was a real gentleman who touched many, many people in the car hobby, including me. We'll miss him. Condolences to his family.

Dave was a great help and a great friend to the car people on the Austin Healey Forum. And He was that to me as well. I'm sure my contact with Dave from so far away, can't compare to the loss of the people so close to him, but I'm sure that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by many. My sincere congolances.

May his chariot be a red Austin Healy. Such a kind and brilliant man deserves a stylish ride.
